Editing Assignment Settings

Click on the Edit Assignment Settings button within the Actions menu to customize your assignment. Click on the Update button when you finish. The following settings are available:

Basic Settings

  • Title: This is the title of the assignment. This field should already have a title in it.
  • Instructions: Add directions for how the student should complete the assignment.
  • Maximum grade: The total points possible.

Availability

  • Available starting: This is the starting date that you want this assignment to be viewable to the students. You can set a date manually or click on the Immediately button so that students can see it right away.
  • Due date: This is the last date and time that students will be able to submit their assignments. After that point, the assignment becomes disabled. You can also set the due date to Unlimited.
  • Cutoff date: This either allows you to accept late submissions on a specific date or not limited to time. If a student submits an assignment after the due date, then their file will be marked as late.

Notification

  • Student notification: This can be set up so CSP e-mail notifies the student their assignment has been submitted.
  • Instructor notification: This can be set up so CSP e-mail notifies you when a student submits their assignment.

Submissions

  • Multiple submissions: If this option is off, a student may submit an assignment only once. After they submit the assignment, the Submit button disappears. If this option is enabled, then students have the ability to retract and resubmit assignments up to the due date. Please note that in this mode, you will not be able to grade an assignment until after the due date.

Results

  • Student score release: This gives you the option to release the student’s score after you grade the assignment, once the availability date has passed, or not to release the score at all.
  • Release column: You are able to release the assignment column to the student’s My Grades section within this option.
