Compress Pictures

In Microsoft PowerPoint

  1. Select one or more pictures in a file.
  2. On the Picture toolbar, click Compress Picture.
    • Note: If the Picture toolbar is not visible, click View, then point to Toolbars, and then click Picture.
  3. Select the desired options.
    • Note: Selecting the Delete cropped areas of pictures check box discards the parts of the picture that were hidden during cropping (crop: To trim vertical or horizontal edges of an object. Pictures are often cropped to focus attention on a particular area.).

In Microsoft Office Picture Manager

  1. Open a picture using Picture Manager
  2. On the task bar above, select Edit Pictures...
    • A new window will open in the right part of the window you are currently in.
  3. At the bottom, click on Compress Pictures
  4. There are four options to choose from:
    • Don't Compress
    • Documents
    • Web pages
    • E-mail messages
      • By clicking on any of these radio buttons, a description pops up below. A size change will also show up below.
  5. If that size is what you choose to change your picture to, click OK.

Once you exit out of the page, it will ask you if you want to save the picture as it was changed. Choose Save or Don't Save according to your wishes.
