Disable Screen Blinking on R61

There is a nuisance with the new R61 computer, and that is the default battery settings which make the screen flicker or "blink" a lot. This happens especially when you leave the computer idle for a minute or two. Below is the solution to this issue:

  1. Open ThinkVantage Power Manager (Either by double-clicking on the battery in the task bar or going to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Power Manager)
  2. If you do not have a custom battery scheme, you will need to create one by clicking New...
  3. Name it whatever you would like and click Next
  4. Leave everything the same except change the second option entitled Lower display refresh rate to Never
  5. Then click Finish and you will experience a "blink-free" laptop screen.
