Exporting Quiz Questions

When you are using WebCT, you can bring quizzes from one course to another. However, in order to do this, you would need to export the entire course and then import and replace the entire course. This is not a good option if you are exporting from an old course that does not fit our current accessibility standards of our current courses. Instead, you can export all of the quiz questions from one course and import them into a new course. From here, you will need to create new quizzes in your new course.

EXPORTING QUIZ QUESTIONS

1. Navigate to your old course. Make sure the Designer Tab is selected.
2. Click on the Quizzes link from the Course menu.
3. Click on the Questions Database link.
4. Check the box that is to the left of the Title column header. This will select all of your quiz questions. If you want to exclude any quiz questions, deselect the appropriate quiz questions. See the image below as an example.

   

5. Within the Actions menu, click on the Download Questions button.
6. Within the prompt that appears, click on the Save button.

Navigate to a folder on your computer to save this file and then click on the Save button. This will save a text file.

1. You are now finished with this course. Click on the myWebCT link in the upper-right corner of WebCT.

IMPORTING QUIZ QUESTIONS

1. Navigate to your new course. Make sure the Designer Tab is selected.
2. Click on the Quizzes link from the Course menu.
3. Click on the Questions Database link.
4. Within the Actions menu, click on the Import questions from file button.
5. Click on the Browse… button.
6. Click on the Browse… button again.
7. Navigate to your saved text file of quiz questions. Click on the Open button.
8. Choose which WebCT folder you would like to save this file and then click on the Upload button.
9. The appropriate file will be selected. Click on the Add selected button.

   

10. Click on the Import button.
11. All of your questions and appropriately marked correct answers will appear on the web page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Continue button.
12. Within the Actions menu, under Options:Category, you can view the appropriate category where your questions preside, or you can choose All categories and click on the Go button.
13. From this point, you can create new quizzes based upon these questions.
