FAQ:WebCT Chat
When I click on the Click here for Weekly Chat room link, nothing happens.
This issue is usually resolved by doing a Browser Tune-up. If after running the browser tune-up the issue persists, contact WebCT Support.
I get a java error when I click on the chat room link.
This issue is usually resolved by downloading the most current version of the java plug-in. To complete this task, direct your browser to the Browser Tune-up. Click on the "Plug-ins" link on the right side of the page. On at the bottom of the next page, click on the "Java" button. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the program. When complete, close your browser and retry logging into WebCT and launching the chat applet. If the issue persists after running the Java upgrade, contact WebCT Support.
When I am in the chat rooms, I continually get booted out.
This issue is usually resolved by doing a Browser Tune-up. If after running the browser tune-up the issue persists, contact WebCT Support.
When I post messages, my classmates can't see them.
Make sure that in the chat student list on the right side of the chat room that no students names are highlighted. If this is the case, make sure to click once on their names to un-highlight them. You should now be able to chat normally. If the issue persists, contact WebCT Support.
When I looked at the chat transcripts, I had no posts.
Private messages are not logged in the chat logs, nor are the general chat rooms. To remedy this make sure you are in one of the first four rooms. Also make sure that in the chat student list on the right side of the chat room that no students names are highlighted. If this is the case, make sure to click once on their names to un-highlight them. You should now be able to chat normally. If the issue persists, contact WebCT Support.
