Manually Configuring Wireless Profiles (ThinkVantage Access Connections)


Concordia has several wireless networks for access by faculty, staff, students and guests. The profile you use depends on where you live or where your primary office is located on campus. Go through the following steps to configure your ThinkVantage Access Connections Client on a Concordia owned laptop.

How to Add Profiles on Concordia Owned Laptops

  1. Go to Start, All Programs, ThinkVantage, Access Connections
  2. Click on the Find Icon.
  3. Click on the network you wish to connect to.
  4. Click on Connect
  5. At this point, a window should pop up that says "Unable to connect to the selected wireless network. You may need to configure your system to support the authentication method that is in use. Do you want to configure now?" Click yes.
  6. Click the Wireless Settings tab.
  7. Wireless Network configuration should be as follows:
    • Network Name (SSID): Should have the name of the network you're trying to connect to.
    • Connection type: Infrastructure
    • Wireless mode: Auto
    • Wireless security type: Use IEEE 802.1x Authentication
  8. Under Wireless security type click Properties....
  9. The settings under properties should be as follows:
    • Access point authentication: WPA-2
    • Data encryption: AES
    • EAP type: PEAP
    • Allow fast roaming (CCKM) should be unchecked.
    • Authentication protocol: MS-CHAP-V2
    • Validate server certificate should be unchecked.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click OK.
  12. The internet should connect through this profile. After it connects, it will ask you if you want to save the profile. If you do, click yes.

This will allow you to access our Secure Concordia University Network.
