Microsoft Word 2007
There are several differences found in Microsoft Word 2007. One of the most noticeable differences is the interface. It looks different. Microsoft has tried to make its new software more user-friendly by adding tabs.

Default Spacing
As you probably have noticed, Microsoft Word 2007 has changed the default spacing from 1.0 to 1.15. This means that when you hit enter, you are going 1.15 lines down. This is something that can be changed. To do this simply:
- Within the Paragraph section in the home tab, click the Line Spacing button and select Line Spacing Options...
- Then in the spacing section the At: box, select and change to 1.
- Then check the box that says Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style.
- Then click the Default... button.
- Click Yes to save this as your default spacing option.
Default Font
The default font & font size in Microsoft Word 2007 is now Calibri instead of Times New Roman. The size is now 11 instead of 12. You can change the default size yourself. To do this:
- Within the Font section in the home tab, click the arrow box in the bottom right corner of the box.
- The font box should then appear. Select your new default font from list and your new font size from the drop down box.
- Then click the default button in the bottom left corner of the box. Microsoft Office Word will then ask you "You are about to change the default font to (Default) Times New Roman, 12pt. Do you want this change to affect all new documents based on the NORMAL template?" Click on Yes.
From now on when you open a new blank Word Document your new font and font size will be the default setting.
Using Tab While Making an Outline
If you are working on an outline with bullets or roman numerals and your tab key does not indent to the next bullet of the outline there is a fix.
- Click the Office Button in the top left of the screen
- Go into the Word Options menu
- Click on Proofing
- Click on AutoCorrect Options...
- Click on AutoFormat tab.
- Make sure that Automatic Bulleted Lists is checked.
- If this doesn't work, go into the AutoFormat As You Type tab
- Make sure that Automatic Bulleted Lists and Automatic numbered lists are both checked.
- This should solve the problem.
Search Commands
The new and improved aspect of Microsoft Office 2007 is the Search Commands feature. If you have any question as to how anything works in Microsoft Office 2007, you can go to the Search Commands tab at the top and search keywords.
