Respondus

Respondus is a piece of software used by WebCT Course Designers to upload and create quizzes. All Faculty/Staff are eligible for an install of Respondus on their computers. Please fill out the WebCT Support Form to request it.

Respondus Lockdown Browser

From the Respondus website, "Respondus Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within WebCT. Students are locked into the assessment and are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications." In order for students to use Respondus Lockdown Browser, faculty must distribute the following installation link to them:

CSP-owned laptops have Respondus Lockdown Browser pre-installed on them.

Instructions on on setting up server settings:

  1. Open Respondus
  2. Click on the Retrieval and Reports Tab
  3. With Retrieve Reports Selected Click on the WebCT Server Dropdown Box
  4. If there is a profile listed, select it
  5. If not, choose “add new server”
  6. Leave the first section blank (1.)
  7. Log into WebCT, and go to the homepage of a course you have DESIGNER access to
  8. Copy the URL for that homepage
  9. Paste it into section two (2.)
  10. Press the Extract button in section three (3.)
  11. This should populate the information to the right of the button
  12. If you are creating a new server connection create a name for it in section four (4.).
  13. In section five (5.) type the WebCT username and password that you used to access the course with designer access (referenced above)
  14. Click OK when finished.
  15. If you need additional support, please submit a WebCT Support Form.
