Username

What is a Username?

At Concordia University, your username (along with your L number) is your identification for many technological uses.

Applications you will need your username for

  • Network
    • This is typically set to the first seven letters of your last name followed by the first initial of your first name (example, Jane Smith would be smithj). This is used to get into one's computer and into the library databases. For Faculty and staff, this same username is also used to access their email through Outlook Web Access. For students, this username will access Course Evaluations that need to be filled out at the end of each semester.
  • Google Apps
    • This username is also typically set to the first seven letters of your last name followed by the first initial of your first name (see above). This username is only created for students and logs them into their Google Apps email account.
  • Bear Path
    • For this application, the username is actually called the user ID and is the individual's L number with a capital L.
  • WebCT
    • This username, like the network and Google Apps usernames, is typically set to the first seven letters of your last name and first initial of your first name. This username will access an individual's WebCT account.

NOTE: All of these usernames have different passwords. For this reason, if an individual changes one password, none of the other usernames will reflect this change.
