WebCT Firewall
You could encounter problems accessing WebCT chats if you login from a business with a network, or if you have a home network. Most networks have security firewalls that protect the network from unauthorized outside access. A firewall will perceive chat room activity as an attempt to gain unauthorized access. You need to have access to a non-network computer if your class will be using the chat rooms.

Firewall/proxy port
The firewall/proxy port that WebCT goes through is 4445. If you are off campus and not able to access WebCT at all, the problem could be that this port is not being allowed through a firewall that might be set up. If you are at work, speak with someone in the technology department at your work to get this resolved.
