Inbox Functionality
There are several different things you can do in just the opening inbox of your Google Apps account.
Archiving
When you start using your Google Apps account you can find that your inbox grows, there are two options that you have to choose from if you want to reduce the amount of email that shows up in your inbox:
- You can archive your mail by selecting the mail you want to archive and click Archive this doesn't delete the mail, but it moves the mail out of your inbox and into the All Mail folder on the left hand column. This is highly suggested so you can maintain a record of all emails received very easily.
- The other option you have is to delete. This takes the mail and moves it to the Trash folder on the left hand column. This trash folder is emptied once a month. So any record of your email would be permanently gone.
Reporting Spam
Very rarely do spam messages leak through Google Apps spam filter, but on the rare occasion that they do, you can simply select the message and click Report Spam and it will go into the spam folder and any further email messages from that person will automatically go to the Spam folder.
Starring Messages
In Google Apps they have a system that allows you to "star" email messages that you want to look at later or as a reminder to read later. To "star" a message, click the "star" that appears to the left of the subject line in the inbox.
Google Search for Your Email
Google Apps has a very unique search feature for its email client. The search box is located above your inbox. The Google Apps search looks in every part of every email message. This includes the contact name, subject line, anything that is contained in the body of the email message, and it is very thorough in general.
